Privacy Notice
Last updated:
A plain-language explanation of the information used by this hosted website and the choices available to you.
These pages describe this website’s hosting, publication-notification requests, contact arrangements and related choices.
Operator and scope
Use the contact form linked below for privacy, accessibility and other website requests. This notice covers the website, publication-notification requests and the separate contact service. Independent services reached through links have their own practices.
Squarespace hosts the website and stores publication-notification requests from its native form. A separate contact service uses a Cloudflare Worker, private D1 storage and visitor-initiated Turnstile bot protection. Accepted contact messages include the connection IP address, a submission ID and UTC server time for private review and potential evidence handling.
Information used by this website
- Page delivery: your browser sends connection information, the requested resource, and ordinary request headers to the hosting infrastructure. Squarespace and its service providers process technical information to deliver and protect the website. Their operational records are distinct from the notification requests reviewed by the author.
- Notification requests: the form collects your email address and affirmative permission to receive book-publication news. Squarespace stores the submission for author review. Form security or abuse-prevention features may also process technical connection information.
- Your browser may retain browsing history, cached resources, or autofill information under its settings. Those browser-managed features are separate from information held by the website and its service providers.
- Contact messages: the form collects a name, email address, ZIP or postal code and a message of up to 1,000 characters, including spaces and line breaks. Accepted submissions also record the connection IP address, a submission ID and UTC server time. Submissions are screened automatically before manual review; messages blocked by the content filter are not saved as contact submissions. A ZIP or postal code is supplied by the sender and is not matched to an IP location. Contact messages remain separate from publication notifications.
Purposes and applicable legal bases
Information is used to deliver and protect the website, review optional publication-notification requests and provide the book news requested. The separate contact service uses submitted details and evidence records to prevent abuse, review and handle messages, respond to privacy or accessibility requests, and assess a potential referral of threats or suspected unlawful conduct. A report requires a separate human decision; no automatic forwarding or visitor email reply is sent. The site offers no payments or public user accounts.
Where EU or UK data-protection law applies, the grounds for processing depend on the activity. Necessary website operation and responding to messages may rely on legitimate interests, handling legally required requests may rely on legal obligation, and optional publication news relies on your specific permission. These grounds remain subject to applicable rights and requirements.
Permission for publication news is requested separately through the notification form. Agreeing to website terms, following an author profile or sending a contact message does not give that permission. Use the contact form linked below to withdraw a notification request. Requests and withdrawals are handled manually.
Disclosure, providers, and international handling
Squarespace provides hosting and native storage for publication-notification requests. Fonts and artwork use the website’s hosting and asset infrastructure. Google reCAPTCHA is enabled on the notification form for abuse prevention; Google may process technical information when it operates. See Google’s Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy and Terms of Service: https://policies.google.com/terms. The separate contact service uses Cloudflare for request handling, private D1 message and evidence storage, and visitor-initiated Turnstile bot protection. Accepted messages include the connection IP address, a submission ID and UTC server time. A separate short-lived salted key derived from the connection IP address and a minute bucket limits repeated requests. Your ZIP or postal code is not matched to an IP location. Cloudflare processes technical connection information to operate and protect its services. If a message raises concerns about threats or suspected unlawful conduct, relevant evidence may be exported to a private case queue for review and a potential report to appropriate authorities. Any referral requires a separate human decision and manual action; messages are not automatically forwarded.
Opening an external link takes your browser to an independent provider. That provider may receive connection information and a referring site address under the browser's policy, and may use its own cookies or account information. Review its notice before providing information.
Service providers may handle information in countries other than your own under their applicable terms and arrangements. Relevant data-protection requirements depend on the actual processing and locations. No claim is made that all information remains in one country or that a particular certification or transfer mechanism has been established for this website.
Retention and security
Notification requests are retained while needed to review the request and provide the book-publication news you asked for, unless permission is withdrawn. Requests are reviewed manually. Hosting providers may retain separate operational records under their terms and applicable obligations.
Accepted contact messages are kept as needed for moderation, request handling and applicable legal duties. Connection IP addresses are scheduled for removal from active records 30 days after receipt; an hourly purge removes expired values. A documented case hold with a recorded end date may retain an IP address longer for review or a potential referral. D1 Free provides seven-day recovery, so deleting data from active storage does not immediately remove earlier recovery copies. Separately exported case evidence requires manual retention and deletion. No automatic deletion period is promised for the remaining message details or separate case exports.
Access controls and reasonable handling practices help protect information, but no service or transmission can be promised absolutely secure. Do not send classified information, identity documents, or other unnecessary sensitive material.
Choices, children, and updates
You can read the website without making a notification request and can use the author's profile links independently. The Privacy Rights page describes relevant rights and requests. The Cookies & Tracking page explains hosting, storage, and external-link considerations.
The site is intended for a general adult readership and is not directed to children under 13. The operator does not seek children's personal information. If you are concerned about a child's information, use the designated contact rather than posting additional details publicly.
The date above identifies the current notice. Material changes to information practices will be reflected in a revised notice, with any further notice or consent required by applicable law.
